Our Story

How it all began

It all started with a remarkable twist of fate – our family’s story began with my father’s encounter with his second wife, my French mother, in Japan. After nearly three decades in Japan, they made a life-changing decision to move, not to Germany but to the beautiful Cantal region of France. What struck us was the uncanny resemblance of the Cantal landscape to the mountains of Japan, evoking a sense of nostalgia and connection.

Growing up in West Berlin, we children were raised in the very house that had been our family’s home for generations, built on land that had witnessed the passage of time. When my father chose France over Germany, it took us a while to truly appreciate this stunning region. The Cantal, with its natural beauty, captivated our hearts, becoming one of the most enchanting places in the world for us.

We envisioned creating a space where the bonds of family and the embrace of nature could intertwine and thrive. This journey in Laroquebrou is just beginning, rooted in the warmth of family and the promise of something extraordinary to come.

What we want and what we strive for

More than sustainable

Regenerative economy to make your workation sustainable

‚Problems can never be solved with the same mindset that created them‘

In contrast to traditional sustainability, a regenerative approach is rooted in questioning and critiquing existing systems. It encourages us to reimagine a higher quality of life through fresh perspectives. Embracing systemic thinking, which focuses on the overall context and interactions rather than isolated parts, holds the potential for a more harmonious relationship with the environment.

A regenerative mindset invites us to think beyond sustainablity

to envision hopeful futures, inspiring us far more than the gloomy scenarios often presented in today’s climate discourse. It encourages us to dream and ask questions about how we want to live and what we wish to change. Embracing uncertainty as enrichment allows us to live with questions over time.

The regenerative approach challenges us to think differently, learn, and find joy in the process of change. It starts with inner change management, extending to our professional environment. It encourages flexible, dynamic processes, moving away from standardized procedures.
Because sustainability will not be enough.

Collaboration is key to profound sustainable workation success

especially in complex industries like tourism. Horizontal and vertical relationships among competitors and partners are essential for resilience in the face of market changes. Rapid prototyping and open dialogue are more effective than rigid planning.

Transparent communication is crucial for efficient collaboration.

Our principles of the regenerative economy

Tourism overlaps with various industries

providing opportunities to promote sustainability throughout the value chain.

Tourism stakeholders should prioritise community wellbeing alongside profit, taking into account both qualitative and quantitative criteria.

Authenticity is crucial, especially with younger generations, which is achieved through team training and awareness-raising.

Human interaction and hospitality are an essential part of regeneration. Prioritising classic hospitality qualities and improving working conditions contribute to a regenerative workplace.

Your Hosts

The Momber-Family

The roots of our family are here in Cantal, Alsace, Frankfurt and Berlin-Brandenburg. We come together here and enjoy how far away and unspoilt everything is here.

When we gather here, we embrace the diverse passions that each of us brings to life. Some of us find solace in the serenity of hiking through the picturesque landscapes, while others seek the exhilaration of paragliding through the skies. Yet, our shared love for swimming and basking in the beauty of the nearby lake unites us all.

This is a place where we come together to savor the tranquility and untouched natural beauty that surrounds us. Some among us are authors, penning and self-publishing their own books, while others engage in remote work that spans the globe. Despite our individual pursuits, we all proudly identify ourselves as Europeans, bound by the rich tapestry of our family’s history and the harmonious blend of cultures that define us.
